Hi, I’m Jason. I specialize in helping those who are getting ready to make the transition into retirement. Planning to retire after a lifetime of work can be stressful, and it gives me great satisfaction to help clients navigate this change with confidence. I provide my services virtually to Canadians across the country.
I first learned about the importance of financial advice after witnessing my mom’s distress after suffering losses from the dot-com crash of 2000. At the recommendation of her investment advisor, my mother had borrowed against the value of our home to invest in high-risk mutual funds.
As a widow with two children and limited investment knowledge, my mother relied on the expertise of her "advisor”. Unfortunately, that advice came with a conflict of interest because the sale of the mutual funds resulted in a large commission for the advisor.
This experience left a profound impact on me, which is why I value the unbiased nature of working as a fee-only financial planner.

My typical clients:
Are within 5 years of their desired retirement date.
Have defined-benefit or defined-contribution pensions.
Want to know if they can afford to retire, or know how much they can safely spend in retirement.
Have questions about when to start receiving CPP/OAS and how to draw down their investments in a tax-efficient way.
They may work with an investment advisor or have done their own planning, but would like a second opinion before making the jump into retirement.
Clients with defined-benefit pensions often ask:
Should I leave my pension with my employer or take the commuted value and invest?
Should I buy back past pension service?
Which survivor pension option should I choose?
I'd like to retire early but will face a pension penalty. How much will it affect my retirement?
What is pension income splitting and how can I use it to lower my taxes?
Since starting my career as a financial planner in 2014, I’ve created hundreds of retirement plans for Canadians across the country. I live in Winnipeg and hold the Certified Financial Planner® designation and earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Winnipeg.
