With over thirteen years of experience in the financial service industry as an investment advisor, I have had the opportunity to wear multiple hats, including that of a financial advisor and insurance broker. Over the years, I worked with a few large Canadian brokerage firms. However, when providing financial planning services under large companies, there are several challenges that one may encounter, including conflicts of interest, sales-driven compensation structure/environment, and doubts about the objectivity of advice. I’ve had difficulties fitting in with these corporate cultures and in 2024, Sapling Financial Planning was formed.

As an industry expert, I believe fee-based or commission-based compensation structures, where you co-mingle investment planning and financial planning fees, are frequently not ideal. Under such old-school models, many clients overpay and receive minimal services. After much contemplation, I decided to switch to a professional fee compensation structure, primarily driven by my values of fairness, honesty, integrity, and complete transparency.

In 2020, I completed my Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation, followed by my Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation in 2023. I have garnered vast experience in financial planning and investment management, which I strive to utilize to help my clients transition seamlessly through different life stages.

My passion for studying human behaviour led me to enroll in the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. It has allowed me to better serve my clients by understanding their values and motivations. During my bachelor’s degree program at UBC, I completed two options, Finance and Human Resource Management.

On a personal note, my other role is motherhood. I have three children: a boy and two girls. We like to hike, boat, travel, and sing karaoke. We moved to the beautiful qathet region, BC to reconnect with each other and nature. We still return to our community where we moved from, in Tri-Cities, every few weeks to visit our friends and family.
